Facebook IPO – Should I Buy Facebook Stock? | America's Breaking Local And World News

The Facebook IPO –  Should I Invest in Facebook?

That’s the million dollar question for some, and probably the thousand dollar question for many. While most people won’t be able to invest in the “initial public offering”, you are more than able to buy the shares after they are offered for sale to the public.  But should you invest in Facebook’s IPO?

Is the Facebook IPO Risky?

According to some estimates, Facebook stock could be trading at 40 times 2013 earnings–or a forward looking PE ratio of 40–pricey by any standard but certainly not a crazy evaluation. Some analysts have stated, and it’s widely known, that its growth is decelerating and its profit margins may have peaked. Sure Facebook has experienced some phenomenal growth, but will it continue? What’s to keep a competitor from coming along trying replicate their success such as Google Plus? And when users like grandma and Grandpa ate adopting the technology, is it really that cool and hip? After all, there are questions circulating such as does the cia control Facebook?

Facebook IPO -What About Mark Zuckerberg?

So what happens to Zucks as a result of the IPO? Most likely Zucks will stay on and keep running the joint. But he will be giving up some control and have to start answering to a board. So why would he give up that kind of control and autonomy? That’s a good question potential investors should ponder. The reason many companies go public is so that the original investors–in this case, Zuckerberg– and probably dozens of other venture capitalists, can cash out. In other words, Zuckernerg and other original investors get Facebook’s public stock when it goes public, but after a certain period of time, are free to sell their stock. Zucks may or may not sell his stock and cash out, but at least he will have the ability to. But, if Facebook is such a great company with a bright future, amazing margins and explosive growth, why would any original investor want to cash out? That’s a good question that potential investors need to investigate and answer for themselves before investing in the Facebook IPO.
