As if winning a division one national wrestling title wasn’t hard enough, think about doing it with only one leg. That’s exactly what Arizona State senior Anthony Robles had to overcome in order to achieve his goal.

One Legged Wrestler Doesn’t Feel Disabled

Having been born with only one leg and missing part of his hip, Robles is used to getting around without two legs. While Robles is able to go anywhere using just his one leg, he usually uses crutches to get where he needs to go. Robles didn’t start wrestling until his freshman year of of high school. That first year was tough for him, but he was able to wrestle his last two years of high school and go undefeated.

Robles Relies On His one legged wrestler Ability

Knowing on one leg he is at a disadvantage in his match, Robles usually goes down on one knee to bring his opponent down to him. Down on the mat, wrestling at 125 pounds, Robles usually has the advantage with his upper body strength being able to bench press 300 pounds. Chad Ochocinco, the 6 time Cincinnati Bengal all-pro wide receiver, has decided to try out for a Kansas City football team. With the NFL players being locked out, Chad decided he might as well spend his time playing football somewhere else.

No, it’s not the kind of football you’re thinking of that ochocinco is trying out for. The Bengal wide receiver is giving a shot at European style football, which is American soccer. Having played in high school, Chad says that soccer is really his first love. In fact, after the tryout, Chad wants to play so badly he said he’d play for free.

Ochocinco Soccer Skills Not There Yet

Is Ochocinco for real or is this just another publicity stunt? A couple months ago Ochocinco met Real Madrid European soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo and worked on his soccer skills there just for fun. The Kansas City soccer coach did have good things to say about Chad after the tryout. Among other things the coach said that Chad does try hard and is trying to improve his skill. Ochocinco seems almost remorseful commenting that he can’t make up lost time he’s missed over the years since playing high school soccer. If you’re an Ochocinco fan, you may want to get his jersey as soon as possible. Recently, Bengal coach Marvin Lewis was asked what he though of Chad’s soccer escapades. Marvin’s response? “What has he ever done that he’s completed?” Chad, not one to stay quiet, wrote this on his Facebook page when he got the news: “Marvin Lewis won’t say anything bad about Carson Palmer, stays kissing his a$$, but disses Ochocinco daily…SMH.” Personally, I can’t see the Marvin, Ochocinco, Carson trio staying in tact until the next time the Bengals take the field. Army 5th Stryker Brigade Investigation Nears Completion

In an investigation carried out by the army’s General Stephen Twitty, the outcome of the soldiers being charged with murder in Kandahar, Afghanistan is unclear. The army’s investigation was a review of a Joint Base Lewis-McChord Stryker brigade’s deployment to Afghanistan including charges of drug use, posing with Afghan casualties, and murder of Afghan civilians. A dozen soldiers in the platoon were charged with misconduct–five of which were charged with murder.

5th stryker Brigade Findings Released with Protective Order

Although the army’s investigation is complete, the findings were released to lawyers involved in the case along with a protective order that would preclude the attorneys from disseminating any information to the media. The investigation was to not only look at specific charges of misconduct, but also the overall conditions of the platoon–including pre-deployment training under Col. Harry Tunnell. Some allegations have pointed fingers at those higher up in command that were officers at Forward Operating Base Ramrod of the 5th Stryker Brigade rather than the enlisted soldiers themselves. One allegation stated that soldiers in the platoon had easy access to the drug hashish and allegedly beat a private when the drug use was brought to the attention of the officers in the unit.

Are 5th Stryker Brigade Officers to Blame?

According to media reports, the lieutenant who led the platoon when 2 of the 3 alleged murders took place was promoted to captain when he returned to the U.S. Capt. Glenn Nieradka, a witness that took the stand to help Spc. Corey Moore stated, “It’s my opinion that what happened in their platoon was a breakdown in leadership. I truly believe that with different leadership … most likely we wouldn’t be here right now.” Known as FOB ramrod kill team, the soldiers allegedly involved in the incident are members of the 3rd Platoon, Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment 5th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division.

5th Strker Brigade allegations from Wikileaks:

• “On January 15, 2010, Gul Mudin was killed “by means of throwing a fragmentary grenade at him and shooting him with a rifle,” an action carried out by Spc. Jeremy Morlock and Pfc. Andrew Holmes under the direction of Gibbs. Morlock allegedly told Holmes, 19 and on his first tour of duty, that the killing was carried out for fun.
• On February 22, Gibbs and Spc. Michael S. Wagnon allegedly shot the second victim, Marach Agha, and placed a Kalashnikov next to the body to justify the killing. Spc. Jeremy Morlock is also charged in this killing.
• On May 2, Mullah Adadhdad was killed after being shot and attacked with a grenade that Ssg. Gibbs, allegedly threw. Spc. Jeremy Morlock was charged in the killings. As well as, Spc. Adam C. Winfield”

Rebecca Black is an amateur singer from Anaheim Hills, California, turned overnight Youtube sensation by producing and uploading her own music video to Youtube. Black’s song Friday currently has approximately 24 million views and rising–a lot of views even by Youtube standards–considering she just uploaded her video on March 11th. Surely Black isn’t the first person to upload her homemade music video to Youtube hoping to make it big. So why has her video brought her so much exposure so quickly?

Rebecca Black Isn’t Ugly

For starters, Rebecca Black isn’t ugly. When trying to make it big, it helps to have some sort of particular characteristic to help you standout from the crowd. And for starters, Rebecca Black isn’t ugly. Far from it actually. Think Sandra Bullock at thirteen. But there are many other pretty young women creating and uploading videos, so what made Black’s stand out.

Rebecca Black Meets Tosh.O

Tosh.O is a media personality in his own right. Known for his comedy, Tosh created a blog post entitled “Songwriting Isn’t for Everyone” where he referred to Black’s video. This helped propel Black to stratospheric levels. While Black may have Sandra Bullock looks, her singing wasn’t exactly cut out for American Idol. In fact, her music video got some scathing reviews, which really may have helped it’s popularity.  You seem, some singers are just plain bad. But Black falls somewhere in the middle. Her singing isn’t bad, but it’s not exactly exceptional either. Yet Black performs the video with such sincerity, it draws the critics because she’s trying to come across as a legitimate singer. We know she’s trying to come across as legitimate because Black’s mother, Georgina Kelly, paid $2000 to Ark Music Factory to help them produce the video. The music video actually has Black’s real friends from school. As she drives away in the convertible car in Friday, those really are her friends that she hangs out with everyday–not Hollywood music video extras.

Ryan Seacrest Jumps On The Rebecca Black Bandwagon

When you get 24 million hits on Youtube in such a short period of time, someone is about to take notice, like Ryan Seacrest or Simon Cowell for instance. Already, Seacrest invited Black to his radio station, helped her setup a Twitter account, then uploaded a photo of the two of them together. A Rolling Stone critic praised Black saying, “she is actually a pretty decent singer… she is a total sweetheart…Black comes off as a well-adjusted, happy and grateful kid.” Perhaps a writer from Entertainment Weekly summed it up best by saying there’s “something sickeningly catchy about this tune that keeps you coming back for more.” Cowell, the former idol judge, also said he’d love to meet Rebecca Black. Cowell was quoted as telling People magazine, “Anyone who can create this much controversy within a week, I want to meet. I love people like that.” So what’s next for Black? She made an on-camera request for Justin Bieber to sing a duet with her. What do you think about the request? Jenna Jameson on Tito Ortiz: “He did not beat me.” After allegations from Jenna Jameson that her husband, UFC fighter Tito Ortiz, threw her into a shower at their home, Jenna later recounts her statement to reporters saying that no, in fact Tito “did not beat me.

Prior to this, Tito issued a statement with his attorney saying that Jenna is making these  domestic violence allegations because she has been addicted to oxycontin for the past year.  In an earlier satement to reporters before heading out to Las Vegas, when reporters told Jenna of Tito’s statement that she was addicted to oxycontin, , Jenna responded with “Yah, because he’s trying to save his a$$.”

Don’t get me wrong, but I actually kind of like Tito. On all the Ultimate Fighting shows he’s been on, he has had nothing but a great attitude and support for the fighters he has worked with. However, I think his choice for a wife leaves something to be desired. For their twin kids’ sake, I hope they work ALL their problems out.

Whether or not Jenna is addicted to oxycontin or Tito is guilty of the domestic violence allegations, did anyone out there NOT see this coming? I mean come on, the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” marries a former adult film star? I also just read that they met on myspace. Myspace, are you kidding me? Did you think this was going to end like Ozzie and Harriet?  Do you expect them to sit down and discuss their problems rationally like Ward and June Cleaver would have?

That’s what I thought.

Florida Gators Advance-Donovan’s Gators Knock-Out UCLA.

The number two seeded Florida Gators led by coach Billy Donovan met the number seven seeded Bruins of UCLA in the southeast region of the NCAA tournament to see who would advance to the sweet sixteen. At the previous two meetings the Gators defeated UCLA and ended up national champions. Florida’s SEC team beat the Pac-10 team by a final score of 73-65.

The Florida Gators are now 4-0 against Pac-10 teams in the NCAA tournament.

At the two previous meetings between the two teams in the tournament, the Florida Gators defeated UCLA in 2006 in the national championship game and in 2007 in the semifinals. I guess you could say Billy Donovan has the Bruins’ number. For the Gators, outside shooting sensation Kenny Boynton had 12 points and 5 assists. Late in the 4th quarter, Boynton went out of the game for a brief period after rolling his ankle when coming down from a jump shot landing on the foot of Smith of UCLA, their 325 pound freshman.

For the Florida Gators, UCLA’s Smith posed some match up problems.

Finishing with 16 points and 6 rebounds, the big freshman was tough to stop once he got deep down inside. Smith was still able to post these very respectable numbers despite getting into foul trouble. The UCLA big men were so dominant that the Gators didn’t get one offensive rebound the first half. Their first offensive rebound came at the 17:19 mark of the second half. While the Florida Gators were able to neutralize Smith’s presence down low with a good outside shooting game, fans were probably more concerned about Boynton going down after rolling his ankle late in the game. The roll was so bad that time had to be called and trainers came out to assist the Florida Gator player off the court. He would not return to the game. While the game was tight and back and forth, the men from Florida were able to knock down back to back 3 pointers late in the game to help secure the victory. Next up, the Florida Gators will play Thursday to take on the winner of the BYU-Gonzaga game.
