Tomas Kaberle, Bruins Seeking Solutions to Power-Play Struggles Tomas Kaberle, Bruins Seeking Solutions to Power-Play Struggles
When the Bruins made arguably their biggest in-season acquisition in Peter Chiarelli's tenure late last month, one of the primary goals they had in bringing Tomas Kaberle to Boston was improving the club's lackluster power play. Kaberle's slick passing has been as good as advertised and he's even come up with some surprising defensive work. His block of a Matt Cooke bid at an empty net in the final minute on Saturday is just one example of that, with Kaberle's play helping the Bruins salvage a point when David Krejci forced overtime with a goal seconds later. But the No....

Kevin Youkilis' Days of Shifting Positions Likely Over With Adrian Gonzalez, Jed Lowrie Around Kevin Youkilis' Days of Shifting Positions Likely Over With Adrian Gonzalez, Jed Lowrie Around
Kevin Youkilis' desire to do whatever it takes to help his team win couldn't be a more valuable asset for the Red Sox, but then again, so is having exceptional defenders at each corner of the infield. With fellow Gold Glover Adrian Gonzalez now at first, Youkilis' days of moving back and forth across the diamond are finally over, and in his natural position, Youk's defense should only elevate to even greater heights. Are you surprised by the lack of storylines coming out of spring training? --Chad, Milford, Conn. Not really. I think when you have your team put together...

Tom Brady's Ponytail Not Bad Enough, As Quarterback Tortures Patriots Fans With Horrible Dance in Streets of Brazil Tom Brady's Ponytail Not Bad Enough, As Quarterback Tortures Patriots Fans With Horrible Dance in Streets of Brazil
If we could all write a letter to Tom Brady, it might look like this: Dear TB12, What. The. Hell? Sincerely, Everyone The Patriots' quarterback unveiled his ponytail this week, looking much more like a futbol star than a football star. As if that wasn't enough for Patriots fans to stomach, his brutal dance moves were exposed in a YouTube clip. Look, we all knew that Brady wasn't the smoothest guy around. We all knew that he can't really run and that he's not the most athletic guy in the world -- but we had no idea that he danced...

Red Sox Mailbag: Alfredo Aceves Giving Daisuke Matsuzaka a Run for Fifth Spot in Rotation Red Sox Mailbag: Alfredo Aceves Giving Daisuke Matsuzaka a Run for Fifth Spot in Rotation
FORT MYERS, Fla. -- With the Red Sox about a third of the way through their Grapefruit League schedule, the questions from readers are coming in fast and furious. I appreciate everyone who dropped me a line this week. One disgruntled reader was unhappy I didn't respond to his inquiry about a pitching matchup that very night he wrote it -- we delve into the mailbag once a week. For those of you interested in a more immediate reply, feel free to drop me a line at my Twitter account. I'll try to get to everything in time. For now,...

Josh Beckett Takes Hill Against Astros, Jacoby Ellsbury Leads Split-Squad Red Sox Against Cardinals Josh Beckett Takes Hill Against Astros, Jacoby Ellsbury Leads Split-Squad Red Sox Against Cardinals
It's extremely early, but Jonathan Papelbon and Daniel Bard have had different experiences so far this spring. The former will attempt to stay the course while the latter looks to have a clean outing when they appear in relief of Josh Beckett against Houston on Tuesday. Papelbon has thrown two perfect innings in Grapefruit League play, striking out one. Bard, meanwhile, the more effective of the two for much of 2010, has given up four runs on five hits and three walks in just 1 2/3 innings. The pair will follow Beckett, who is making his first start in nine...

Will Carey Price Edge Tim Thomas for Vezina Trophy This Season? Will Carey Price Edge Tim Thomas for Vezina Trophy This Season?
When the Bruins and Canadiens meet up on Tuesday night in Montreal, there will be more on the line than just a couple of points in the standings and some bragging rights. Tim Thomas and Carey Price are considered two of the front-runners for this season's Vezina Trophy, making the two remaining B's-Habs rivalry tilts that much more interesting. As if that's not enough to tune in on Tuesday night, the last time these two keepers squared off, they literally squared off and dropped the gloves for a quick bout. In doing so, both the 36-year-old Thomas and the 23-year-old...

Jeff Green Struggles to Navigate Boston, Carlos Arroyo's Reggaeton Career and Five Other Celtics Thoughts Jeff Green Struggles to Navigate Boston, Carlos Arroyo's Reggaeton Career and Five Other Celtics Thoughts
The Celtics are still in first place in the Eastern Conference, a touch ahead of both the Bulls and Heat with a little over a month to play. But the team that leads the East now is dramatically different from the one that was on top two weeks ago. Kendrick Perkins is still gone (and Francisco Franco is still dead, too, in case you were wondering). The Celtics are now well into the post-Perk era, and their motley mix of new pieces is slowly getting used to life in Boston, both on and off the court. It's been an adventure....
