UConn’s Kemba Walker Buzzer Beater Breaks McGhee’s Ankle of Pitt (Video) | America's Breaking Local And World News

AmericasNewsNow.com | Breaking News-UConn’s Kemba Walker Buzzer Beater Breaks McGhee’s Ankle of Pitt. With the game tied at 74 and just seconds left on the clock, Kemba Walker showed glimpses of his greatness from earlier in the season that thrust him into the national spotlight by hitting a game winning buzzer beater. Unfortunately for Gary McGhee of Pitt, he had to guard the crafty Walker.

Kemba Walker, to no one’s surprise, received the ball on the inbound play with just 17 seconds left on the clock. Walker dribbled to the top of the key for a pick and role. Pitt “switched” on the play, forcing a bigger, less agile Gary McGhee to have to guard Walker. Had Walker drove to the basket, McGhee would have had some help. As it played out, Walker faked a drive, slammed on the brakes, then stepped back to create some space for an open jumper at the top of the key. Meanwhile, Pitt’s McGhee was scrambling on the floor looking like he had just lost a contact. Walker nailed the shot as time expired.

Walker’s buzzer beater was made possible by Pitt switching on picks. Had Brad Wanamaker stuck with Kemba, the outcome may have been different, If you watch the video, it looked like Wanamaker thought about sticking with Walker. However, McGhee didn’t show any interest in staying with his man and chose instead to try to guard Walker. What did McGhee get for his efforts? A Kemba Walker buzzer beater in the Big East tournament at Madison Square Gardens and assurance that his defensive prowess will be shown shown hundreds of times as a highlight around the country.
