The earthquake resulted in a tsunami that hit the shores of Japan. The Tsunami is headed for California and small, low-lying cities such as Crescent City are preparing for the surge.

The Japan tsunami and earthquake has wreaked devastation and the west coast of the United States is bracing for impact. Residents of cities such as Crescent City have been asked to evacuate. Any residents in low-lying areas on the west coast should immediately seek higher ground. Experts are predicting wave surges of at least 5-6 feet. Surges could reach higher levels so residents are encouraged to stay away from the shoreline, use extreme caution, and seek higher ground.

Crescent City California is one coastal city in the path of the oncoming tsunami that has been telling its residents to evacuate. The entire downtown area of Crescent City is built on a harbor. Waves there are expected to surge at least 6-8 feet. Coastal residents in Oregon and Washington are urged to stay away from the beaches and seek higher ground. Tsunami waves are expected to hit the west coast of the United States around 11:30am eastern time or 8:30am pacific time.
