Breaking News | Americas News Now. Egypt Internet Shut Down. As Egyptian protestors have promised a “Friday of Wrath” aimed at ending Hosni Mubarak’s 30-year rule, the country’s security forces have clamped down by shutting off internet access.

The Egypt internet shut down comes as a result of the government attempting to control the backlash of protests tahat are trying to end President Mubarak’s rule. Egyptian protestors have been emboldened by Tunisia’s recent overthrow of their government.

Shutting off the internet is likely to make things worse for Mubarak’s government. It’s likely the government will take some sort of action such as reshuffling cabinet members if nothing else, just to try to calm the masses. However, that type of move by Mubarak may not be substantial enough for the angry Egyptian rioters.
